Who has the highest win percentage of England’s national team managers?
For this list, I haven’t included Sam Allardyce as that would be too easy. All info for this list comes from https://www.adducation.info/general-knowledge-football/england-football-managers/
5. Ron Greenwood
Ron Greenwood managed England during the 1980 European Championship and the 1982 World Cup. He finished his stint as England manager with a win percentage of 60%, winning 33 of his 55 matches in charge.
4. Sven-Goran Eriksson
The Swede managed England to 3 consecutive quarter-finals at the 2002 World Cup, 2004 European Championship and the 2006 World Cup. He won 40 of is 67 games, giving him a 60% win percentage. Level with Greenwood, his three consecutive quarter-finals put him just Greenwood in this list.
3. Glenn Hoddle
Ex Chelsea and Tottenham manager Hoddle took charge of England at the 1998 World Cup, where they reached the second round. His stint was reasonably short as he only took charge of 28 matches. He won 17 of these, finishing with a win percentage of 61%.
2. Sir Alf Ramsay
Sir Alf Ramsay managed England from 1963 to 1974. He led England to a period of incredible success as he was the manager when England won the 1966 World Cup and he followed it up with third place at the 1968 European Championship and also a quarter-final at the 1970 World Cup. He took charge of 113 matches as England manager, winning 69 of the them. This leaves his win percentage at 61%.
- Fabio Capello
Capello replaced Steve McLaren after England’s failure to qualify for Euro 2008. He took England to the second round of the 2010 World Cup in his only major tournament. He won 28 of his 42 matches, leaving a win percentage of 67%.
